Your eyes widened at the headline of your local news channel. ANOTHER (CITY NAME) TEEN WAKES UP MISSING A KIDNEY. You covered your mouth in disgust and fear as the news reporter went into detail about the poor boy who was now in the hospital. He was going to be okay, but the mere thought of someone out there taking peoples’ kidneys in your town was too much to handle.
You turned off the television and threw the remote next to you on the couch. You couldn’t take it anymore. It was like a horror movie about a psychotic maniac in your hometown, only this was all too real. You got up and doubled checked that all the doors and windows were locked. You went to your room, and after closing the door, changed into your pajamas.
You got into your bed and snuggled under your covers, bringing the blanket up to your chin. It was no use anymore, you were always afraid now. The police had little to no leads on the kidney stealer which made everyone worry for their safety. Nobody knows what this person looks like or why they do what they do.
All you could do was pray that your friends and (especially) yourself would be safe for the night.
~*~*~*~*~
You opened your eyes and saw the bright sunlight peering through your window shades. You gasped when you remembered last night. You sat up and checked for any cuts or gashes and sighed in relief.
“I still have both kidneys.” You told yourself.
You giggled inwardly of how silly that sounded out loud, but quickly brushed it off. You got out of bed and dressed for school. You went to the kitchen and grabbed a (favorite flavor) pop tart and slid on your backpack. You were about to head out the door when someone called your name.
You turned around and saw your mother looking worried. You’re parents weren’t normally up this early. She came up to you and hugged you tightly.
“Be safe honey, and come straight home you hear me?” she said.
“Don’t worry mom, I’ll be fine.” You said trying to reassure her, even though you were terrified.
“I love you, (y/n).” she said.
“I love you too.” You said.
~*~*~*~*~
You sat in your classroom and noticed there were fewer students now. Parents began to pull their kids out of school ever since a couple students became victims of the kidney stealer. The students that stayed at the school didn’t bother paying attention, since most never get any sleep anymore.
The cafeteria that was once loud and sociable was now unsettlingly hushed. Some kids didn’t even talk at all. You got your tray of food and sat down next to your friend, (f/n), who was just staring at his/her food.
“Did you get any sleep?” you asked, breaking the silence.
“No. Did you?” he/she mumbled.
“Surprisingly yeah.” You said, biting onto a piece of carrot.
“I can tell.” He/she said looking back down at his/her tray of untouched food.
You weren’t sure what (f/n) meant by that comment, but didn’t think much of it. There wasn’t much you could do to soothe your friend, so you just rubbed his/her back comfortingly.

Your POV
School was finally over and I started walking home. Most of the kids drove themselves or had rides, but my house was fairly close to my high school. The school informed us to stay on the main routes and never go into alleyways and other unsafe locations, which was obvious.
I was on the main route to my neighborhood, but I just couldn’t shake off the feeling I was being watched. I would glance around every couple seconds to check. Nobody (that I saw) was near me, but I knew something was wrong; I suddenly feared for my safety and sanity.
I walked up to my house and gripped the handle and I turned around for the last time. Seeing no one, I entered my home and locked the door. I still had the same strange feeling I wasn’t safe, even behind locked doors.
“Hi (y/n)!” I heard my mom shout from the kitchen.
“How did you know it was me?” I asked, grabbing an apple.
“I know my daughter.” She said and kissed my forehead.
Later that night I tried to take my mind off of earlier by watching funny YouTube videos and going on Deviantart, checking my messages. It was getting pretty late so I shut down my computer and changed into my pajamas and brushed my teeth.
I slipped under my warm blankets and snuggled into my pillow. Forgetting my fears, I closed my eyes and almost instantly fell asleep.
~*~*~*~*~
My body shivered at the feeling of a cold breeze brushing against me. Wait…the window! I forgot to close it. I shot out of bed and quickly shut the window and locked it. Gosh how could I have forgotten to close it?
I got back into bed, trying to get warm. When I finally calmed down I closed my eyes again. My heart sank when I heard a quiet thump nearby.
I forced myself to open my eyes and I was paralyzed with pure terror. There, hovering over me was a dark figure that looked like a man, staring down at me with dark eyeless sockets. He wore a black hoodie and a mask that covered his face.
He pressed his hand over my mouth before I had a chance to scream. My eyes widened when I saw him holding a scalpel. I began to fight for my life out of his grasp, and managed to free myself. I sprinted for my door, but before I could get one foot out I felt a pair of arms lift me up and pull me back.
“MO-mph!” I was cut off by hand covering my mouth again.
He shut the door and locked it, and pulled me back to my bed. He held me down and pulled my shirt up slightly. I was scared out of my mind, and I realized that this was the kidney stealer! I tried to struggle harder, but he was too strong. Tears began to stream down my face as I watched him bring down the scalpel.
“Hold still…” he whispered and pierced my skin with the sharp blade.
My pained screams were muffled by his palm. I cried harder as I was overwhelmed by excruciating pain and he continued to dig the blade into my skin until I passed out.
~*~*~*~*~
I hissed in pain as I started to regain consciousness. My eyelids felt so heavy but I opened them anyway, and I saw a needle thing in my hand. I looked around, I was still somewhat groggy, but I realized that I was in a hospital room.
“(y-y/n)…” I heard a faint whispered.
I turned and saw my mother with tear streaks on her face and dark circles under her eyes.
“M-mom?” I managed to choke out, “What happened?” I asked.
“Oh, (y/n)…I’m so sorry.” She gently hugged me.
I looked down and saw a thick bandage on my side. I remembered what happened, and cried on my mom’s shoulder.
Enjoy...

It’s been four months since that man had tried to kill you, and in those four months you had a special trainer help you learn how to fight hand to hand in case it came down to it. Your brother, Michael, stopped by often to make sure you were okay. A little too often for your liking, but hey, at least he was worried. You had made sure to lock your doors every time you went out somewhere and even when you stayed at home. Currently, you were wrapped up in a blanket on your couch, a fire blazing in the fireplace as Christmas music floated through the speakers. You sippe

Auburn locks ran through your fingers as you combed your boyfriend's hair, his eyelids almost closed over his empty sockets as you watched TV in the mansion's living room. Some random horror movie was on, and it was just you, Jack, and Toby watching it. Everyone else had something better to do. You and EJ took up the couch length wise, and Toby sat on the floor and leaned against it, his eyes glued to the screen.
Jack's breaths were slowing down, and you knew he was out. Your lips twitched upwards in a smile, he almost never lay this long with you. You switched from runnin

The rush of adrenaline pumps thorough my veins as I quietly slide my window open.
I nervously glance behind me once more.
'Of course they're not going to check on you, it's too late as it is.' I chided myself while stealing a glance at the illuminated clock on my night stand.
10:12PM.
I swung my leg over the window sill; and blindly tried lodge my foot in the rose trellis below my window.
Gingerly, I climbed down while trying to avoid any torns that might penetrate my hand.
After giving myself a pat on the back for completing part of my mission, I hugged my (F/C) jacket around my body as I slunk through my back ya
